My therapeutic goal is to help facilitate understanding and meaning. This can enable a person to cope better, increase resilience, and restore self-esteem, self-worth, confidence and happiness. 

This is achieved through the therapeutic relationship that is genuine, compassionate and transparent.

Play therapy refers to a method of psychotherapy with children in which a therapist uses a child’s fantasies and the symbolic meanings of his or her play as a medium for understanding and communication with the child. 

If your child is struggling with the following, then play therapy may benefit them:

Behavioural difficulties (misbehaviour, acting out, tantrums)

Overly emotional  (e.g. excessive crying, clinginess)

Anxiety/Fears/Phobias

Anger or outbursts

Bullying (either being bullied or bullying)

Victim of abuse, either physical or sexual

Any noticeable, unusual changes in behaviour or emotional expression may indicate emotional problems

Divorce/separation

Bereavement

Trauma (e.g. crime or accidents)

Medical Illness

Parent-Child Relationship Difficulties 

Adjustment difficulties – e.g. new sibling, relocation, conflict

Self-harm/suicidal concerns

Social and peer relationship problems

I have a special interest in the assessment of children. Each assessment is carefully chosen to not only answer the presenting problem but also to develop a treatment plan and interventions.  The following are assessments that I offer:

These sessions are basically designed to improve problem solving, build communication skills, and identify life goals and relationship responsibilities.

Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy that involves all members of a nuclear family or stepfamily and, in some cases, members of the extended family (e.g., grandparents). The therapist  conducts multiple sessions to help families deal with important issues that may interfere with the functioning of the family and the home environment

​

This practice provides assistance in various parenting and family related concerns including:

 

Parenting guidance, counselling and psycho-education

Family conflict

Parent-child relationship difficulties

Sibling rivalry and conflict

Communication difficulties

Dealing with divorce and separation

Adjustment to blended and step-families

Working with teenagers can be both challenging and rewarding. Developmentally, teenagers are facing challenges in so many aspects of their lives. They are often exploring their own identities; creating new and meaningful relationships with peers; testing the boundaries of the family and beginning the path of career development
